"Out of Stock" messages during check-out mean that the pipe has already sold, but I have not yet updated the catalog page to reflect its "Sold" status.

We're coming up on the anniversary of the Japanese tsunami, and I was recently talking to a Japanese collector about Goblins, so I suppose I had Japan on my mind when I made this. I think it has a distinctly whimsical, Miyazaki-esque influence about it, with the hugely fat body being dragged along by such tiny little claw legs. It's adorable. It also sits upright with the bowl slightly off the desk, supported by the two front legs and the hooked base of the shank.

As a pipe, it's a big one - While not huge in height, it has a large bowl chamber and walls 3/4" thick, so it should be a rugged smoker. The crosscut blast is unusual and spiders across the body showcasing 33 years of growth from side to side. The horn stem is handcut by French artisans and this is a particularly nice example of the material, with a lot of color variation and swirling character - In my opinion, it's the most beautiful stem material available. First Goblin of 2012!
