Notes:  Another unusual one!  I wish I had remembered to snap a shot of it next to its sketch, like I did with the Seahorse, because it's equally as accurate to the original drawing.  Here is a nice example of just how bent a pipe can be made and still have a straight airhole for reaming purposes.  In many cases, this sort of shape would be drilled with a curved airhole but I was intent on keeping it straight for practical purposes.  Ultimately it required some reshaping of the mortise bottom to ensure easy pipecleaner passage, but in the end it draws as easily, passes a cleaner as easily, and should smoke as nicely as the simplest straight stem pipe.

Positives:   A really fun shape, for starters - It holds and hangs well, and should be an excellent "reader's pipe".  The stem is handcut from my personal favorite stem material, a cumberland-colored acrylic.  The colors aren't as sharply demarcated as they are in cumberland vulcanite, but it's wonderfully attractive stuff and unlike vulcanite, will never fade or discolor.  On top of that, this particular acrylic blend is pretty soft, as acrylics go, and offers more give than some of the more hard and brittle acrylic materials.  Really nice grain rings and fun sandblast, as can be seen in the pics.  Also, I enhanced the surface a bit with a contrast stain that left the recesses darker - it looks particularly nice on the bird's-eye rim and underside, where each pit of bird's-eye is darker and stands out more clearly.  Neat effect!  Probably the nicest thing I can say about it is that this is just the sort of shape/size/stem/bend combination that I'd really like to keep for myself, if I could afford to!

Negatives: Nada, IMO.
